The Joys of being a Mommy
Well, to begin, I am a mother of a beautiful 4 year old boy named Jakobi. He is indeed the typical four year old, but he also has a uniqueness about him. We give my mother credit for that seeing how the first time she held him in her arms, she looked in his eyes and said, "Jakobi, you have ancient wisdom". haha. I suppose it was the way he looked at you when you spoke to him, as if he, without a doubt, understand every word that was coming out of your mouth. Till this day, he retains that witty little look when holding a conversation with anyone. Throughout the years tho, he has also taught me a great deal of patience. To me that is the second most important part of parenthood following love. Jakobi has the typical outburst, when he doesn't get what he wants, but all I do is stick to my word and pray that I can steer his attention toward something else. Tonight, I took him into the store, gave him $2 (trying to teach the value of money) and let him buy something simple. He paid the cashier and as we walked out he notice a stack of purses for sale and said he'd come back tomorrow and buy me one. Put a big smile on my face and told him that was very sweet of him. Then at the end, he added " Mom, I'll start paying you if you clean my room." Bahaha. He apparently learned that from me since I like to give him a couple of dollars when he does small chores. I simply told him thats not how our relationship works. He has become my #1 model for my photography business I just started. I figured he'd be use to mommy holding a big black lens in front of my face since I've done it since the day he was born. He has made me a better photographer because he's taught me the quickness I need to have which catching natural, real life beautiful moments. What better way to learn than chasing around a toddler, right? Time for me to relax with my better half, while our little one sleeps.
